He stood on the edge of the waterfall, looking out over the north now that it had turned from sheer white to a brilliant emerald green. The brisk air whipped through his fur, birds called in the vast forests below him, but his thoughts were focused entirely on the shallow whispery breaths coming from the cave itself. Nuada showed potential, but his son…His first born son…

He shook out his fur and made his way down from the mountain, his tail waving briskly behind him. He hadn’t expected to be so grateful for his own law; the one that didn’t ensure his children would inherit his great and mighty pack, but he was. His son was feeble, and small, much smaller than he had anticipated, and certainly smaller than Nuada.

He stopped after passing by the den Artemis had made and his ears flicked slightly. It was awfully quiet for a den inhabited by pups. His brow furrowed in suspicion. Maybe they were playing. He gave a small experimental bark just to be sure and then waited a moment, watching for any sign of movement.
