Something's Getting In The Way

Torin's mouth watered as he did his best not to bite down too hard on the rabbit carcass in his mouth. He had caught it with the intention of sharing it with Jendayi, the hopes of having a nice picnic with her had made his chest feel tight. He hadn't been having much luck finding her though, her scents were all stale and he couldn't seem to pick up her trail. That made his chest feel even tighter, and heavy. He knew he shouldn't have expected too much out of her, she clearly hadn't been eager to be locked down any place for too long... still he had hoped she might at least let him know if she was going anywhere...
He sighed behind his catch, his mind wandering as he plodded along. Jewell was growing bigger and bigger each day and Torin had more than once found himself convinced there was no way she could grow any bigger without bursting, only to find she had done just that. His anxiety of his imminent nieces and nephews had certainly been one of the reasons he'd had hoped to have a nice relaxing moment with the yellow eyed girl...
It was a different girl that caught his attention, one he had been fortunate enough to not think of in some time. Torin stopped short, his eyes wide. He stood behind her failing form, unsure if she was even aware of him. He wanted to gently bundle up her weak form and help her, he wanted to ignore her and pretend he had never seen her. He settled on a median. Slowly, the man trudged up beside her, gently laying his catch beside her and settling upon his haunches silently.
"You can have it." Were the only words he muttered, his voice hard and his face a mask. He turned to look away from her, if he looked too long he'd forget all the turmoil their encounter had caused him. He'd just see her frail form, those brilliant blues that had drawn him in that fateful day and he'd be a lost cause. He mentally doubled down on the pain the knowledge that she had toyed with him caused, even as he felt his stomach twist and sink from that his chest fluttered and he couldn't help a single, softer glance back in her direction.
Torin you are an idiot!
