I'll show you how a heart can never fail

It was easy for him to lose track of time some days. He'd get lost in thought on a border patrol and an hour or two would go by before he realized how late it was getting. Today was one of those days - he almost didn't hear his father's call ring out to the pack. He abandoned his patrol as quickly as he dared, stopping to make sure there were no unsavory scents along the way, before he headed to the meeting. Despite the fact he hadn't exactly rushed to where Zell had summoned them from, he still wasn't late, but from what he could see the majority of the pack had arrived. All of his siblings had beaten him there as well as his mother, Frostbite, and Star. The lack of Hailey's presence was evident and his lips furrowed into a tight frown. His mother had accepted the friendly healer into the pack, but he had no qualms about letting her go either. She'd failed to be an active member and by this point Rory didn't see the use in keeping anyone in the pack who wasn't going to pull their own weight.

He shoved such thoughts aside and instead offered a friendly tail wag to both his parents before he padded over to Kairi who seemed to be pestering Miach. His cousin had a rather sour look on his face and Rory barely held back a chuckle. Being annoyed by Kairi seemed like an appropriate considering the hell he'd put Faite and Zuriel through. He took a seat next to his sister and with a mischievous grin he leaned in towards her ear.

"Don't forget to ask him who all he met on his travels. I'm sure he made all sorts of friends." He whispered to her. It was his own way of egging her on. It probably wasn't the most adult thing to do, but he was feeling rather vindictive. Miach and Kane were the reason why his mother had left in the first place and why she'd been gone so long.
