Has no one told you...!?

Kaitlyn felt her heart skip a beat. She was right… this room belonged to one of her daughters… and Doireann slept in a room next door. But then… all at once her heart dropped like a stone. She froze, eyes widening at the realization that one of her daughters, the smallest, was in fact dead. The female lowered her gaze to the ground, and Kait felt weakness in her body even worse than before. His next words, were she not so desperate to know the truth of her other daughters, might have been lost. Both were fine.. Able to come and go as they pleased. Her largest daughter had even been here recently… her scent was proof of that… as well as the state of the bed.
Kaitlyn said nothing, shakily entering the room and practically collapsing on the bed. Fresh tears began stinging her eyes, and the female lowered her body to the ground as much as possible as Lucifer curled around her. But she listened to the Demon King, an ear flicking to the male’s voice as he gave her information. The Queen was pregnant again… He should have known that she wouldn’t fight, nor argue, at least not as herself. She was flighty, yes, but not confrontational.
Kait tried to shake the thought of Lyle’s death from her mind. She could still picture the little bundle of fur the night she abandoned them, and it hurt her heart terribly. A couple tears rolled down her face as she breathed in Belua’s scent from the pelt beneath her. Luc’s actions were continued to baffle her too. He was continuing to be gentle, even reassuring her in a way… and even now lay around her to warm her body and give her a sense of protection.
But it was different from when Clay was with her… She realized that, though the Demon King could show a gentle side, he could also be forceful… make sure he got what he wanted. She feared him… feared what he could do. But his gentler actions left her feeling confused. If he was truly so bad why show a kinder heart at times? A conflicted feeling was rising in her heart even more…
It was obvious he cared for their children too, even if they weren’t by his Queen… Why else give them freedom?
The femme gave a small sigh.
“I shouldn’t have left them.” Her words were quiet still, full of regret. “...if I had been here… maybe Lyle would…” Her voice cracked again and the femme squeezed her eyes closed.
“...I won’t leave them this time… Even if they don’t know me as their mother… I… I can’t…” Her body trembled for a few moments. She felt worn down… but also too awake to dare slumber.
“Belua and Doireann… they don’t know of me…” Her words were a statement rather than a question, and a sad one at that. She didn’t look at Luc… trying to imagine what her daughters looked like now. They’d be beautiful and strong, no doubt… with a heavy likeness of their father. That thought didn’t bother her as much as it probably should have. But with how her mind was beginning to race, perhaps now wasn’t the time to focus on that.
