Far Too Young to Die

Seasons had passed since the last time she'd been to the lake. It was a charming little place and even though she tended to be a one and done traveler Kanja was making an exception. She'd circled back to the lake, determined to get one last night among the fireflies before she flitted off in search of other breathtaking haunts. She sat at the edge of the lake and watched the fireflies dance across its pristine surface. The tranquility she found here somehow managed to soothe her quarrelsome spirit. Pawsteps brought her out of her reverie. Kanja cast a glance over her shoulder in the direction of the noise and immediately zeroed in on the approaching male. Her gaze roved over him lazily, her expression languid and deliberately unimpressed for no other reason than that she didn't feel like giving him the satisfaction of being checked out. After deciding she could take him in a fight, Kanja quirked a brow at him, her expression quite clear: whatcha gonna do, pretty boy? She didn't care if he joined her or went on his way, but this particular spot was hers and she was going to own in. No way she was leaving. |
