Survive the Night

This was an interesting place, not somewhere she'd been before. It was the exact opposite of the cold, barren land she'd been born in. This place was bright and green, brimming with life and warmth. She splashed carelessly through the streams, eyes seeking out the plant life that grew near the bases of the willows. There was great variety here, and she was really starting to enjoy her find. Why hadn't she been here sooner?
Vyper was wrapped lightly around Saffron's neck, his head on top of hers as his tongue flickered, taking in all of the new scents from the woods they'd entered. It was warm, and the air had a humidity to it that pleased the snake. Saffron could tell that her companion was enjoying himself, by the way he held still, not fussing or hissing like he did when displeased. Good, they could finally agree upon a good place to explore and maybe stay a night or two.
She paused suddenly when a howl rang out. It was not directed to anyone in particular, but the howl was powerful, commanding in a way, and seemed to beckon an audience. Fascinating. She was curious what this was all about, and so she rounded a bend and followed the direction of the howl, until she found herself in the presence of a dire-sized she-wolf. Saffron paused, tilting her head as she looked at the woman. So, this was who had called? She looked so young, Saffron was surprised. Shrugging, she wasn't about to make any judgments based off the girl's youth and appearance.
"If it's an audience you seek, you've got my attention," the woman spoke smoothly, her silver eyes running over the frame of the younger female, "Just what is your intention?" Gray ears pressed forward, interested, yet calm and collected as she waited to hear what the girl would say to her.
