A little too late

The poor thing was worn out, weary from his travel with Elias. She ever so gently cleaned him as he snoozed between her paws, the little wolverine pup didn't even have a name yet. The meeting was vary unexpected, but something about it made her feel grateful in a way. He had been a lot different from their last meeting and hopefully that meant whatever was wrong with him was being treated. She had hated that her children never had a true father. She still wasn't sure how she felt about him meeting with his children, but no matter his gift had proved he was trying to make amends and the fact he had tried so hard to track her down.

Her children were all adults and it would be up to them to decide if they wanted anything to do with their father, not her. She sighed lightly laying her head on her right paw, protectively shielding her new companion from the son as it slept. Her heart ached as she thought of Blackjack and this wolverine was definitely not him, but she hoped to be good to him and to treat him right. With him being so young she was sure he would outlive her, but that just meant this little pup could be a great companion for someone else.

Heavy paw steps made her ears perk and the approach was coming up wind from her. She remained in her relaxed position until he was close enough and he began to speak. She raised her head and quietly nodded.

"It was him yes, but no he did not harm me at all," she replied.
