you don't leave anything to chance with your bloody hands

The grin fell from Ashiel's face at the mention of Dauntless no longer seeming to be around. At least, he thought that was what she meant. It was difficult to tell. Aranea spoke softly and it was easy to see she was worn down. Had something happened? He knew it could not be the work of his family or he'd known about it. Perhaps internal strife? With these mortals it was impossible to know. Aranea continued to surprise him though as she stated she owed a life debt to Asharya. He'd have thought she was kidding if not for the fact that she knew his sister's name.

Ashiel sighed. And of course Asharya had not returned from her mission or her wandering or wherever it was she'd gotten off to now. She was getting to be as bad as Pyralis if not worse. "Asharya is my sister and a member of this pack but she's not here at the moment. She's away on a mission and may be gone for some time." Crap, what should he do with her? He really didn't need any more healers but if this girl was sworn to Asharya he knew he'd have to deal with his sister's ire for turning her away.

The woman's answer to his question about Nuada suddenly set a lump in his stomach and he turned to her with a snarl. "What do you mean what daughter? Nuada, obviously. Did she go with her father then?" He wasn't quite sure why it mattered to him in that moment. This was a mortal child and no concern of his but he needed to know that the girl hadn't simply been abandoned. There was a sting in his own heart at the thought of it but not for the girl… no, maybe it was his own concerns. As he'd gotten older he was beginning to see his own life in a new light.
