She had not traveled long with the kitten hanging trustingly from Gwen's grip on her scruff when the pair was approached by a stranger. Gwen watched her warily as she moved closer and spoke. Gwen hesitated to put the kitten down where it could be in danger from an unknown wolf, but she could hardly speak while holding her, so Gwen carefully set the kitten down between her forelegs where the wolf would have to go right under Gwen to get to it, and put herself in easy reach of Gwen's jaws. "Its going to be ok, princess," she whispered to the kitten before raising her head to give the other woman an appraising glance. "That depends," she answered the stranger's question bluntly. "Are you a healer?"
