Something about his sister's timidness when she'd arrived both warmed his heart and made him feel protective, seeing her in all her innocence and completely unscathed since the last time he'd seen her told him that she'd been alright. They'd both been alright. Maybe not emotionally, but emotions weren't something the young man had a full grasp of understanding just yet. They were both unharmed, but though he was relieved- it did irk him how his mother neglected to inform his sister at all of what was going on. He knew by how protective Zuriel had been when they were pups that she had a big heart, and armor thicker than her appearances gave way. She would take secrets to her grave if it meant keeping danger or reason for concern away from her children, though.. that was only one part of the puzzle Kane was just starting to figure out.

Why hadn't she told them at all about her father before they'd left? He thought carefully, plotting his thoughts out in his mind as he lowered his frame beside Daelos, allowing her to work easier on his neck considering how much taller he was than she. His single ruby seemed distant, lost in thought as he ignored her presence unintentionally for awhile. It wasn't until she broke the silence that he looked back at her with his lone eye and shook his head. "I don't want to admit it, but I am almost certain that man is our sire." Sire. He wasn't even sure if he could utter the word father for a man that was not present throughout most of their lives, but he could not deny their lineage altogether, could he?

He shifted his weight onto his side, his back legs kicking out behind him as he kept his forelimbs ahead of him and holding him upright. He was exhausted and it felt good to rest, but his mind was far too active to give into the will of sleep just yet. He looked like a lazing lion with how he was postured. His thick neck twisted so that he could face Daelos with that massive skull full on, "He found me in Auster, I was looking for Miach. He didn't talk at all, he just.. forced me to come with him and wouldn't let me leave. He attacked me when I tried to escape. I wasn't going to say anything considering it was obvious mom knew him when I showed up, but.. I don't know. The man is a creep, and it worries me that mom is running off with him alone... but... maybe she knows him better than I do, I don't know. I'm not sure what is going on here, but. I'll kill him if he hurts either of you. I promise." Somehow. Somehow he would learn to defeat that man in battle if it came down to it. He sighed, trying not to think of the embarrassment of his takedown. Elias came down on him and grounded him so easily it hurt his pride. In the past, he'd always managed to get away from his attackers- but Elias was leaner and quicker than he was, yet somehow still so fucking strong.

He didn't want to linger on the topic of Elias, and as he looked Daelos over he couldn't help but let his lips curve slightly as he admired how beautifully his sister had grown. "I missed you, and mom. I'm sorry for leaving, and I'm sorry I couldn't find Miach..." His eye trailed off of her image to look around them briefly as if searching for something. Mom said they were all back now, so.. that meant Miach had to be here, as well. Where was he? He refocused on her and inched closer to her if she would allow, keeping his chest to the soil as he crawled toward her slowly and outstretched his neck. He wanted to nuzzle into her cheek apologetically, but if she denied him he wouldn't press it. He was, after all, quite monstrous. "I'm sure a lot has changed since I have been gone, would you care to inform me?"

To love your enemies,
Then what value does that place on love?
