New faces in old places

Amos glanced at the kill that lay untouched nearby but ignored it for the moment, looking back to the other boy with a cheerful expression. Amos was ever the chipper young man, though for the past few weeks it felt like he had to force that bright demeanor more and more. His dismal mood kept trying to surface and he continually stuffed it back down and layered the cheer and good humor thickly overtop as a barrier between himself and the negative emotions festering below.
"Nice to meet you! I'm Amos Allantide, I joined quite recently." Settling into a sitting position he tilted his head a hair to the left. "Do you patrol often? I've never been in a pack before this so I'm afraid I don't know a ton about what are probably the most painfully basic things," he laughed. Of course there was no better way to increase your knowledge than to simply ask questions and not be afraid to look a fool, right? "Have you always lived here?"
