She was every bit as fast as he predicted and easily caught up to him despite his somewhat larger strides, she simply had speed on her side. The hair of her mane and tail were caught up in the wind, streaming off of her as the younger girl flew over the sand. Amos wouldn't be surprised if this observation was part of what cost him in the short race, but he didn't have a lot of time to dwell on the matter as they both made impact with the waves, water flying up around the pair in all directions.
Now that they were both thoroughly soaked, any warmth he might have felt was gone and replaced by the chill of the salty waters. He could taste it on his lips, which was more than enough to keep him from having any interest in ingesting more. That much salt was kind of gross. He watched Aurielle duck under but didn't follow suit. He was plenty cool now without getting his ears wet too.
He shrugged at her question, unsure if he really knew of anything edible here. "I've never seen a clam, sounds weird. Hmm... Maybe a crab would be good? They look strange. I never tried eating any, but there's a first time for everything, right?" Turning towards the shore, he stared out across the shimmering expanse. It was lovely.
