Got a key to the city and a street in my name

Another day, another brief outing after her children had been fed, loved till they grumbled their puppy protests, and told a story until they fell fast asleep. Once she'd left them in the charge of another, she was free to roam for a few hours as the sun hung low in the sky. Today she stuck pretty close to the canyon, after ascending one of the more precarious paths and having one or two momentary scares when parts of said paths decided it would be a good idea to crumble out from beneath her paws. From the top of the canyon she'd gazed out, surveying the adjacent lands and wondering what one would be her next pick for exploration. The dark outline ahead of her was what ended up piquing her interest, so Razi followed the impulse and trotted towards it.
The soil turned from the warm hues of the canyon rock to a dark, almost inky color. It smelled fo sulfur, and as she walked cracks in the ground on either side of her sent jets of hot steam up from whatever depths lie below. A different sort of place from those she was used to, but interesting enough to press on if only because she could smell something curious ahead; the smell of water. Here of all places.
