on parole [agria/kaine kids]
"You will see, be patient." papa said gently, and so the rust hued boy would wait. Luckily, he didn't have to put his will to the test quite yet. Mama arrived soon after him, and she looked tired. Not very happy, either. Why was mama always upset? He watched papa turn around to look at mama, eyes sparkling. "Mustered up the strength to join us, have you, little pixie?" he said, and got up. Watching papa give mama kisses was gross, and Mephistopheles turned away to look at his home instead. It was so big! It must go on forever! He could hear his papa and mama talking quietly to one another, but didn't really want to listen. It didn't matter, it wasn't about him. Familiar thumping paws drew his attention behind him again, and there was Kefka! He raced past without stopping to say hi or to play fight. What! That wasn't very nice! "I'm ganna beat you there!" he cried, which was even worse! Kefka couldn't beat him! It didn't take long for him to start running after his brother, eager to see the world at the same time. Definitely not after! At least, until papa shouted. "Kefka!" The booming voice echoed from the dense foliage all around, and Mephistopheles skidded to a halt. Ears pressed right against his head, eyes wide. Oh no. Papa was real mad. "Get back here, now." was the order papa gave. He'd better go back, before papa got mad at him, too. Tail drooping, he shuffled back to where his parents were standing. Oh jeez, this was already not fun. Papa was mad, and mama was tired and mad. Glancing over his shoulder, he sought out his brother. He'd better not still be going, or Mephistopheles would be mad, too.
