Living in the Grey

It was a mild day as far as the weather and the small storm last night hadn’t brought much snow. This made conditions for a short travel from packlands ok and he had let one of the higher ranks know before he had left. He was on a scouting mission, checking to see how the herds were doing in the nearby territories and see if any of them had moved away for the winter. It was key information the pack would need to know because they needed food. With the lack of hunters Lais had been trying his best to fill his duties as legionary, but also bring food in for the pack. Most of the larger food sources had simply come from scavenging, but smaller prey was easy to get on your own. Pack numbers were low and he had been worried since Regulus had left for his own mission. Lais was worried that his brother wouldn’t return, the only sibling Lais had left in Celestial. Little Auri was now taking over and though Lais was more then proud of his niece, he was worried his brother may fall off the deep end. He had kept his concerns to himself and tried to bury them under other things.
He paced himself through the snow, not wanting to tire himself too quickly. Moving through it at an easy pace while his other senses remained alert. He didn’t know what state the local prey would be in, this winter had been harsh so far and he didn’t see it getting much better.
