The children were old enough to leave in the care of the pack members for much longer periods, and while Razi still spent the majority of her time taking the pair on adventures through the territory, telling them stories and teaching them of the greatness of their linage, she also had a lot of other matters to attend to. The heat had killed the herbs for the most part, and while she wasn't too concerned since the pack was still quite small and they had a reasonable stock stored up, she still felt a need to go out and see if there might be anything out there remaining while she continued to mull over her future plans.
Ebony paws hit the dry soil, kicking up small puffs of dirt with every step through the arid land. The large trees that dotted the space provided shade, but they were spaced far enough apart that she wasn't benefiting much from it. Heaving a little sigh, she shook her hot pelt as though that might stop the sun from beating down on it and leaving her uncomfortably warm. It was getting closer to midday, she'd need to stop a while and let things get cooler before traveling more.
Settling herself beneath one of the many large trees, her eyes flicked upward as she heard a woodpecker of some sort drilling into the wood above her head. At first she was irritated that it chose the same spot, but her vexation waned when she found herself distracted by the substance that was leaking from the bark where it pecked. Well, one didn't see sap like that every day.
