Lost & Scared

He didn't care about his safety at the moment. The only thing that mattered right now was getting little Seraphine out of the water. How she had managed to get into the chilled water he could only guess, but that was unimportant at the moment. He had her, and she was safe. That was what mattered. The current was rather strong, pulling his massive body along downstream, but the man beat his legs powerfully against the current, slowly gaining ground as he moved closer and closer to the shoreline. Atop his shoulders lied Seraphine, who was still for several moments before he suddenly felt her stir across him, panic in her voice as she attempted to get a good grip on him. Demonio craned his neck around to catch a glimpse of her, wet nose pushing into her little paw as sign of comfort. It's me little one, Demonio. We met the other day when you were playing with that rock, do you remember? Tones were calm despite the urgency of the situation, trying to keep the child on his back from panicking anymore than she already was.
There. The shore was within his grasp. Forelimbs struck out, claws raking against the wet earth, feeling it give way beneath his grasp. Digging his claws in Demonio pulled himself towards the shore, throwing his forelimbs over the bank, clutching to it desperately, hind limbs frantically clawing at the wet soil in an attempt to get a good grasp. Seraphine, little one, listen to me. Climb up over my shoulders onto my bed and jump onto the bank. Hurry, so you can be safe. Audits flattened against his skull in preparation for her short climb, needing to get her to safety before he could hoist himself up.
