The Little Beaver That Could

Geoffrey was so engrossed in fixing his fence that he didn't notice his packmate's approach. He'd been careful to work each stick into the mud so that it stood straight and tall, and that had come back to bite him in the butt. Removing them was liking playing tug o' war with the ground. Success was coming far too slowly for his liking.
Laisren's voice startled him and caused him to drop the stick he'd been holding. He snatched it up almost as soon as it hit the water and then turned to fix Laisren with a pitiful expression. "I made a pool and now it's running away." If he were being honest, he had no idea how to fix it. If he put a new fence around it the water would do as it had done the first time and simply ooze between the sticks.
