Eerie things

Always hungry, the pup never ceased his search for food, anything he could find. But when he came upon the bone-white trees of the strange forest, he paused, seating himself as he looked to the canopy. He'd never seen anything like it, and at once he realized that there was magic in these woods. It took precedence over his rumbling belly. He needed to find where the magic came from and feel it in his own paws. His head turned, and through the trees he saw a faint glow. There! That had to be the source. Jareth was on his paws at once, bounding without grace through the forest, his ocean-green eyes fixed on the distant glow.
When he came upon the faintly glowing pond surrounded by unnatural stone formations, he spotted the other being that was already there. Slowing his pace, he wandered over to the stranger, peering up at the strangely marked stone that the wolf was investigating. "There's magic here," the strange boy stated, "Do you know its secrets?" Perhaps if this wolf knew about it, he could make his claim on it sooner. He knew he had much to learn if he wanted to grasp and use the magic of the natural world, but that wouldn't dissuade him from trying now.
