He broke from his thoughts and wheeled sharply to face the source of the voice, his lip raised in a snarl and the cobra around his neck attentive with her hood raised. When his eyes settled on the small girl he lowered his lip but kept his guard raised. Even when he had first met Astraios he had never dropped his guard completely; pups were never truly alone, although there had been plenty of times in his own childhood where he had been. When the scent of his brother wafting off the girl touched him however, chased quickly by the familial scent of his mother, his guard dropped completely, and instead he stepped toward the girl with wide eyes and a curious expression. “Who are you girl? What’s your name?” He asked.
Tyranis had always deeply regretted abandoning his mother, and with the fresh wound of being abandoned by his own father, the lamentation stung like an infected wound. “Where are your parents?” He asked, nearly expecting the girl to give him a suitable answer but prepared to be disappointed. He raised his head slowly while the cobra resettled into the thick fur of his neck, his eyes searching for a flash of white contrasted against black among the tall blades of grass.
