I'm Taking This Loop Off
Eura chattered nervously as he wandered up the side of the mountain, tugging at his ear as he walked leisurely over the craggy peak. His father had told him about this place once. That the leader of his old pack had a flock of owls take pieces from the core of the mountain and bring them back to their pack lands so their apparent titan of a leader could start the largest fire he had ever seen in his life. A barn fire he had called it. Rogdar found himself scoffing and shaking his head. There was only one barn in Boreas and it wasn't in the lands he had described as his former romping grounds.
Stupid.
He gave a brief look over his surroundings and felt a chill run up his spine. This place was creepy, there was no doubt of that, and even with clear scent of abandonment in the air, he felt as though he was being watched by all sides, no matter how far he climbed. “Maybe it’s not abandoned.” He thought out loud and continued climbing. A stray rock fell across his path and for a moment Rogdar felt his heart stop. He froze and took a brief reconnaissance of his surroundings, anticipating an attack as his eyes followed the path the rock had taken.
If the girl was hoping to ambush him she was doing a shit job of it; Standing in plain sight, kicking stray rocks, and of course, moving in the exact opposite direction of where he was standing. He lifted his nose to quest after her scent and then let go of a breath he hadn’t known he had been holding. She was pack.
He hadn’t met anyone from Niente in spite of spending half a season with the northern pack, but he supposed now was as good a time as any. With long legged grace Rogdar bounded after her and came to a stop directly in front of her. “Sister.” He greeted with a smug grin and dipped his head respectfully, while Eura stared at the steel colored girl with wide eyes as though she expected her to snap at them at any given moment.
