Chasing deer and wasting bullets

Aerndis was crouched in the grass, her body still, her breathing slow as she watched the creek and waited. She knew there was a herd of whitetail deer in the area and with any luck they'd be coming to the creek to drink and sate their thirst but the wait was starting to drive her a little crazy. She decided to give it until the sun just hit the tips of the trees off to her right. If she still didn't see the heard by then she'd take a more active approach to hunting. Either way she was skeptical she could take one down by herself. However, she didn't want to risk howling and frightening the deer. She glanced around herself, feeling like there was someone else here but with the grass as tall as it was she couldn't see anyone.

Movement caught her attention and her heart began to race. There they were! A small herd of white tail deer were headed toward the creek. She watched them carefully, trying to pick out any weaknesses. The wind shifted just slightly but maintained her favor. However she caught the scent of another wolf nearby. Unraveling the scent she opted to follow it and see if she could find herself some help. As she followed it she suddenly realized that the scent was familiar. Branch? Grinning she picked up her pace until she noticed the male. She called out softly. "Branch, is that you? Are you hunting deer?"
