Introducing: Seasonal Skill Prompts! These prompts will change at the beginning of each In-Character Season, and will provide an opportunity for your characters to gain skills in different ways. Each character can complete a single prompt of their choosing each season, but only one per character!

Prompts will either have the option to be completed solo, in a group, or you might be able to choose from those options. In a solo thread, you must complete the prompt in one post yourself, or in group threads you may take as many as you need, with the word count being taken cumulatively throughout the thread. If you choose to do a solo post, you are not required to stop the thread there! Someone else can reply and you can continue the thread as usual. Please note that group threads have a maximum of 3 participants allowed, and the word count is cumulative through all the participants.

Some threads might have a chance at bonus points if your character meets the required conditions, and in the future there will be a special prompt that combines two skills for extra skill points!

Likewise, be aware that these are entirely separate from other skill claims, and have different requirements! The 4+ round rule does not apply, nor does the number of participants for hunting large game, etc. unless otherwise specified in these prompts.

Though the heavy rains that plagued Auster this previous season are slowly coming to an end, its effects are just beginning. Due to the high tides and significant flooding in all parts of Auster, many animals have moved to higher ground... including one particularly agitated crocodile. As your character accidentally crosses its path, it grows even more distressed, and it becomes quickly apparent that a fight is unavoidable.

Goal: Engage in a fight with one of these rogue crocodiles in any part of Auster
Word Count: 1500 (Group Only)
Location: Auster
Tasks:
1. Locate and Identify a target,
2. Draw the crocodile out of hiding,
3. Be clear about your strategy and planning when facing something so unusual and dangerous

Reward: 30 Fighting Skill Points

Hunting

The changing season heralds the start of the rut for many hoofed mammals. Bucks will run themselves ragged while harrying their does. A lucky hunter finds themselves on the trail of a herd during the height of the season. Drawn in by the scent of blood, they hope to find a buck wounded and weakened from battle with other males.

Goal: Take down a Deer, Elk, or Moose
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Boreas
Tasks:
1. Show your character finding the trail/scent,
2. Show your character assessing the herd and selecting a target,
3. Finally, detail both the pursuit and the kill.
4. BONUS: Use a flying companion to surveil the herd before the hunt (companion must be purchased)

Reward: 30 Hunting Skill Points, +5 if bonus prompt is met

Healing

Auster's dry season seems reluctant to leave this year, pleasing herbalists far across the continent. Due to the especially fertile season, herb growth continues long into the fall, a pleasant surprise to all. The stormy, windy weather of the previous season has also led to herbs spreading far beyond their normal reaches, and healers across the continent are finding herbs they're unfamiliar with, and curious about.

Goal: Collect and experiment with a rare herb that your character's never seen before
Word Count: 800 (Solo Only)
Location: Auster
Tasks:
1. Locate and collect a hard-to-find herb that your character has never gathered before
2. Experiment with the herb, whether on themselves or an NPC
3. Study the effects of said herb

Reward: 30 Healing Skill Points

Navigation

The woods, hills, and fields around you are alight with autumn activity. Animals of all sorts are rushing from place to place now that the days are cooling off, knowing that a long and hard season lies beyond the harvest. Perhaps you are on the tail of a migrating herd, embarking on a journey, or simply taking in the scenery. Regardless of your intention, what does your character see and experience now that the season has changed?

Goal: Explore the changes in both the land and other animals around you now that Autumn has arrived.
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Boreas
Tasks:
1. Focus on descriptive language and scene-setting
2. Ensure your character(s) cover considerable distance/maintain travel
3. Show your character experiencing multiple aspects of Autumn (i.e Not just the colorful foliage.)

Reward: 30 Navigation Skill Points

Intellect

As the year comes to a close, it is time to begin planning for the future. As the inhabitants of Boreas know, fall can be a tough season with prey growing more scarce, and the weather growing more and more harsh. Winter is never an easy time of year, especially for rogues and even for pack wolves. How does your character prepare for the fall and upcoming winter?

Goal: Either make preparations for the winter, or discuss the current and upcoming seasons with a companion.
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Boreas
Tasks:
1. (Solo) Spend your day clearing out your den while reviewing the year so far, and strategizing for the winter to come. Make sure your den site is prepared for the cold nights and storms that will surely be coming.
      2. (Group, 2-3) Converse with another wolf about the winter to come. Detail what your character expects during Autumn and Winter as well, and what preparations they are making. Gather ideas from the wolves you meet.

Reward: 30 Intellect Skill Points
