Beneath the silver moonlight, the woman glides into the water, her elegant form cutting through the inky darkness like a beacon. Heart hammering, Thorne stands silently, her tail swaying gently through the water, conjuring tiny ripples across the glossy surface. Those bright blue orbs observe the approaching fae with a mixture of curiosity and apprehension, but she doesn’t utter a single word until they are facing each other, a comfortable distance and cool lake water between them.

For a moment, the mahogany she-wolf merely studies her companion, tracing the lines of her face with a half smile tugging at the corner of her lips. She takes a single pace forward, paws churning at the water, lips parting to offer a name.

Suddenly, a flash of light bursts before her eyes. Thorne blinks in surprise, eyebrows shooting upwards, as a tiny firefly balances precariously atop her ebony nose. A soft, low chuckle rumbles in the fae’s chest, and she glances again at the women, aiming to catch her eye. A heartbeat later, the firefly has disappeared, presumably rejoining its companions in their ethereal dance.

Eyes twinkling, Thorne aims to lean forward slightly, not to make the women uncomfortable, but to merely let herself be probably heard over the water, lapping at the lakeshore. ”Thorne” she murmurs in a soft, raspy whisper, as though sharing a secret. A flash of teeth in the darkness, a small grin. ”What brings you here, creature of the night?”.
