Rain thanked him and Malleus was on the verge of taking the path to Cedar Fall when Rain spoke again. The commoner's first request caused Malleus' brow to rise. The second caused it to furrow. The castle was massive and divided into so many rooms he had yet to count them all. It wouldn't hurt to Rain control of a portion of them. Of course, those cells had other uses... Malleus wasn't sure what to make of Rain's second request. He hadn't been in the Empire long and had yet to really prove himself. Promising or not, his newness was something Malleus couldn't overlook. It was one thing to give him rooms in the castle and another to give him control of slaves. His mind made up, Malleus said, "I'll give you the dungeon with one exception. Should I need a secure cell it will be made available to me. As for giving you captives to experiment on...I'll think about it." They had no captives currently, so he had time to consider Rain's request. "In the meantime the weasels will have to suffice." |
