So close and yet so far. Still, he didn't expect Rhyme to give him much trouble and this way would no doubt still be faster than trekking all the way to Legion to fetch Chaos. The cider he'd had at the reception made it easier to be patient so he simply leaned against the tree and waited for Rhyme.

"What are you two doing out here?" Rhyme asked as he approached. "Discussing a problem of yours and how to get rid of it." Valentine glanced at Shaye and then forged ahead. "I want that slaver, Rhyme. Shaye and I have been discussing under what terms Abaven might give him to me to take to Legion."
