The little scrap of a pup bounced her way through the layer of snow, making messy holes in the other wise smooth surface. The heavy snow flakes falling around her clung to her fur as she went, turning her into a moving snow ball. She found a spot where a rock hidden under a thin layer of snow made the perfect perch for her to get out of the thickest part of it for a moment. Agrippa scrambled onto the rock and gave herself a quick shake to get some of the snow off of her with a huff. From her new found vantage point she looked around at the snowy landscape, including the lake that seemed to be completely lost in ice and snow.
Honestly winter seemed kind of boring. Everything was all one color, it was cold and hard to get around. Plus, it was all cloudy and sad looking outside. She just wanted to play! Every once in a while she’d shake off more snow as it continued to fall around her and form a little pile on her back. Her fluffy puppy fur kept her warm for the most part, but the longer she stayed out of the den the more the snow was melting on her and seeping through to her skin. She shivered a little and tried not to think about it. If Momma or Uncle Ulric saw her shivering she knew they’d make her go back inside and she definitely didn’t want that!
She started to imagine that the snow was actually covering something else... like the ground underneath had somehow transformed into something fantastical. She grinned at the idea, her little tail brushing against the rock as she tried to decide which was better - a ground made out of fluffy deer pelts or piles of squishy berries. Agrippa giggled and hopped back down into the snow, pretending that she was mashing all these imaginary berries under her feet as she bounced.
