Hollow Bodies

She had heard it in the air and felt the thickness of it even now, weeks after her passing. She had seen her brother around but she had yet to offer any sort of comfort or condolences to him...and she wasn't sure why she hesitated in doing so. She couldn't say she was affected at all by one of Jewell's kids passing away. She didn't know any of them save for Celestin, but even then she barely knew him. She never quite got around to getting to know Jewell's kids let alone Jewell herself, and she could only chalk it up to the fact that...well...she didn't really want to. It was nothing against them or Jewell. Nothing against anyone in the pack really...she couldn't explain it, and it was hard for her to even make sense of it. She didn't go to her father to try and sort it out, or anyone for that matter. The only conclusion she could come up with was maybe, just maybe...it was the after-effects of her mother abandoning her. Since her twin brother abandoned her...truth be told, she had been closest to Rory than she had been to anyone else. And since then, she felt like an outsider...
Of course, it didn't help her case that she had been spending more time outside pack lands than in it. And as she lied outside her den with a chilly wind sweeping across the land, she shivered and tucked her paws beneath her chest. She took a deep breath and exhaled, watching the dark grey skies as thick clouds hung over the landscape. Sometimes she wished she could feel bad for one of their pack members passing, but...she just couldn't. And it bothered her immensely. |
