If there's a light at the end, it's just the sun in your eyes

Life’s pleasures are there to be plucked from the tree. At least that was how Ra saw it, and he had taken more than his fare share of golden apples recently. The irresistible smell of woman, yes he knew that alright. Inside his nostrils like acrid black smoke, and as potent as forest fire in sparking the adrenalin. If you died and were somehow kept in a limbo, deprived of all senses apart from one second in every thousand years, you would choose that second to be full of the scent of woman. Power was a great drug, and gods adore power. They pretend otherwise, that they only do it for their own goodness, that they love their creations – even love being worshipped. But its really the power. Knowing you have control over others, knowing you can break and you can make. Up to You. So was it a power thing that had made him pursue mortal women. So many mortal women. Ra considered it. He loved to be desired, knowing the women would debase themselves in a bid to get with him. But it was him that was doing the pursuing. Who really has the power here. He acted like an addict, a flash of some pretty eyes and he forgot himself. The scent of woman dragged him along, caught like a rabbit in an eagles talons. Was that so bad? Playing off one against another. Maybe not – in this game perhaps two winners. But in this odyssey in the mortal world his quest for carnal delight had one side effect. Namely – what would happen with Amunet. They had been lovers before, but would his recent wild days mean her anger had welled up. Time would soon tell as he arrived at the tar pits. There she was, and yes she did look so good to him. So Amunet it is time for us to meet again Was this the time for the talking to stop and whatever will happen, happen. Or was that glint in her eye just shorthand for bloody revenge. . words of a god words of ramses |
