Let The Rain Wash Away

Velvette didn’t miss the intensity in which the stranger watched her, though it made her nervous she returned the purposeful stare. The woman before her decorated lavishly, her form boasting the items in perfection. Ve felt a jealous urge wash over the caution that grasped hold of her. A determination swirling in her chest with want, she had to acquire herself such treasures, but her hunt would not commence today. Like the cat she looked most like she needed the shadows, and surprise. She had neither now.
The woman’s words were soft as she first offered a compliment, though Velvette was a more humble creature. She didn’t often take notice of those taking notice of her. Still, she preened internally as the question was brought forth into the air between them. ”And yourself.” She returned with a customary half bow of respect.
Velvette wouldn’t offer the truth, that she had fully planned on attempting a heist. Though her expression and voice would never reveal that fact, she did debate about honesty for a moment. ”Treasure.” She decided that a half truth would be easier. ”I’ve traveled from the southern continent in search of trinkets to bring honor to my name.” Her haunches curled beneath her, fitting perfectly on the branch she stood upon. ”What of you, traveller?”
