She ducked out of the way of his snapping jaws, coiling her limbs into a half crouch but half a foot away from him. Auds flattened against his dark skull, eyes narrowing in anticipation. Muzzle contorted into a vicious snarl as adrenaline began to course through his veins. The momentum of his lunge carried him from a seated position to his paws, though he kept himself a little lower to the ground, elbows and knees bent for stability. He did his best to centre his weight over his joints next, and tuck his tail between his legs as she pivoted to settle herself perpendicular to him, on his right side.

Dark jaws splayed wide as they reached for his face, and the pair clashed in the clack of teeth as they grazed one another. Her chest aimed to collide with his own, but the angle was off. He leaned to the right, crumpling his right forelimb to gain momentum in close quarters and drive the point of his shoulder into her encroaching chest muscles. He tucked his head low, chin dropping suddenly to protect his throat. As he did so, mismatched gaze caught sight of her forelimbs. Perhaps he could strike a blow here? No, it would detract from the intensity of his shoulder strike. Instead, he continued to lean his weight into the right shoulder, tucking his right forelimb closer to his chest. If it succeeded, he hoped the point of his shoulder would collide sharply with the meat of her chest instead of her intended chest-to-chest assault.
