Give 'Em the Basics

Seeing Poem and Theory interact with each other with such innocent love lifted his heart. Rhyme fought the hardships of his life everyday, most of the time he couldn’t admit making any headway. However, being here with these two allowed him to see the hope that new life brought. They would be better than him, and he vowed they’d never experience what he’d gone through.
”Good, you must be getting to know the rapids well.” He praised Theory quickly before asking his question.
Rhyme felt a beaming pride in his chest for the both of them, obviously so eager to learn. He hoped they both kept that quality throughout their lives. They answered the question correctly, though not completely. Of course he wouldn’t have expected them to answer fully either. They were very young, though he couldn’t quite remember the age he had been when he’d first sparred with his sister.
”That’s correct girls,” He offered, lowering his form to the ground closer to their level. Both of them were long legged, just like he and Rhys had been. Shaye too, he imagined. ”A new concept I want to teach you is vitals. You’ll learn this when you go on your first hunt too. The weakest parts of any creature is almost always the underside of the neck.” He motioned to his neck as he lifted his chin to show the pups. ”The base of the neck,” Rhyme shifted his paw to the point where his chest met his neck. ”Or the underbelly.”
Rhyme rolled to his right slightly, exposing his white underbelly to his young girls. ”Those are the areas you want to protect the most, but also the places you want to aim for when you attack.” He hadn’t explored attacking as much as they’d focused on defense so far.
