It was almost overwhelming how much better Aramis was feeling. Seeing his mother fading away had restored his sense of purpose and determination, and he was truly living again. It felt good to know that he still had the power to help others. Just now, he had helped rescue a young woman from the top of a high boulder. Doing so had greatly increased his confidence. If he could save that young woman, perhaps he had the ability to save his mother as well. But he couldn't do it alone.

These were the thoughts that served as his companion as he made his way back from Wolfpaw Lake. Not long after the rescue, Aramis had noticed bad weather rolling in. He'd had to bid his new acquaintance farewell and make his way home before the rain hit. He'd almost made it, too – the poor boy was only about a hundred yards from the border when the rain started coming down in droves. He grumbled a bit to himself and broke into a sprint, quickly closing the distance to the wall and finding one of the lower points he knew well. He vaulted over it, stopping for a moment to reorient himself and figure out where the nearest shelter would be. Through the blur of the driving rain, he saw one of the sentry shelters. Running toward it, he thought he caught a whiff of his sister. But her scent was everywhere, so it didn't exactly come as a surprise. What did come as a surprise was the fact that she was already waiting out the rain in the sentry shelter he'd chosen. He nearly barreled into her, dripping wet and out of breath.

"Gods above," he exclaimed softly, stopping just in time to avoid their collision. Then, he grinned bashfully. "Sorry about that, Rielle..." From the looks of things, she'd avoided the worst of the rain. Lucky her. Aramis gave his body a quick shake to release as much water as possible, though he was careful not to fling it all in Aurielle's direction. It was nice to see her here. It felt as though he hadn't seen her in so long. Or maybe that was because he was finally waking up.
