Skill Prompts are a monthly feature that allows your character to gain skills in different ways. Each character can only complete ONE prompt per season, and can be completed either in a solo post or in a group thread. You cannot claim these posts for other skill points! Please note that as long as you complete the objectives, you're free to be creative with your posts and have some fun with these prompts!
For solo posts, you must complete the entire prompt in one post. Of course, you can use these posts as thread starters and continue the thread as usual, but no other skills may be claimed by you from that thread.
For group threads, the word count is cumulative and will be taken over all participants. However, participants must be ACTIVELY trying to complete the skill prompt for their words to count. Note that group threads have a maximum of 3 allowed participants unless otherwise specified.

Fighting

Scat Cat: What’s up with all these prey cats lately? Do these breeds even LIVE here? Well, whatever the reason, these feral cats are out of place and upset about SOMETHING. Better take them down before they overrun all the lands! Or… just escape with your life, for now.

Goal: Fight off a feral cat of any size (yup, even a rusty spotted cat, but why would you do that?)
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Anywhere
Tasks:
1. Start around the time you spot the cat.
2. Duke it out!
3. Victory or death! JK, you can still flee.

Reward: 30 Fighting Skill Points

Hunting

Fishing Frenzy: Is is jubilee time, or is the water poisoned? Tons of fish are washing up on shore! Looks like a feast to me! Now if only we had invited some friends… Waitr anyone?

Goal: Start with the realization of the surfacing of fish along the coast. Think about why this might be and how to best harvest this plentiful catch. If you decide to share the feast, call for some friends or find a way to transport the excess food.
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Coastal areas only
Tasks:
1. Start around the time your character realizes there’s free grub.
2. Collect as many fish as you can! Howl for some friends! How will you carry them? Or will you just eat them all? What about the bones? Go wild!
3. Eat up!

Reward: 30 Hunting Skill Points

Healing

Crafting Makes Perfect: Wolves often see cuts and bumps and scratches, but what about burns and bites and the such? Is there a better way to use items to heal wolves faster? How do you do this without thumbs?

Goal: Craft some healing apparatuses and supplies! Be creative and don’t be afraid of failure!
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Anywhere
Tasks:
1. Find some herbs/ plants and other objects to craft with.
2. Craft an item related to healing (example: ointments, tisanes, bandages, etc).
3. Please discuss at least 3 possible items and their uses!
4. These don’t ALL have to be successful. Some can be failures! Maybe that grass wouldn’t make good sutures after all! That’s part of learning alternative medicine!

Reward: 30 Healing Skill Points, +5 if you have someone to test them on (another wolf or a companion)

Navigation

Tremors: Does the ground always shake? No? Then why are some areas shaking? Investigate the shakes!

Goal: Glean some info about the pattern and severity of the tremors in your area. You can talk about past observations as well as current and use it to predict what will happen in the future. These may range from slight vibrations to moderate earthquakes.
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Boreas
Tasks:

1. Experience a ground-shaking tremor.
2. Think about the when, where, and why of the situation.
3. Use this info to make predictions about the weather, weather proof a den, prepare a hunting or travel route, talk to your local alpha, etc!

Reward: 30 Navigation Skill Points

Intellect

Gather Your Allies: A balance of packs and loners are essential for any wolf’s life, but what really makes all those packs different from one another? Why would one choose to be a loner?

Goal: Have your character think about pack life! This can be done in conversation, by visiting a pack, or simply by thought! What packs could your wolf see themselves living in or allying with? Maybe they decide to visit and ask some questions? Maybe an alpha has an open Q&A session open to other packs and loners! As long as we’re talking about packs in detail, we’re good!
Word Count: 800 (Solo) or 1500 (Group)
Location: Anywhere
Tasks:
1. Choose some packs to ponder/ ask questions about/ answer questions about.
2. Discuss!
3. Will you stay, join, or leave a pack? Up to you!

Reward: 30 Intellect Skill Points, +10 if your character decides to join/leave a pack!

BONUS PROMPT : Hunting / Fighting

Only one bonus prompt per PLAYER allowed each season.

Hunted and Hunted: GROUP ONLY. As mentioned earlier, cats are going rampant… but the prey and other predators also seems to be on the move. Fish are easy to catch, but everything with legs seems to be on the way out. It’s up to you and your crew to track them down and defend your group on the way.
Use a mix of Hunting and Fighting skills to save yourself and your group.

Location: Any grassy or tree-filled land
Tasks:
1. Figure out what prey you’re looking for.
2. Track them, and fend off a competitor predator in the process.
3. Players are encouraged to use the expanded word count to make creative choices and pay attention to detail.
4. Success is determined by the players. Show whether your wolves succeed or fail, and what consequences they may have sustained in the struggle.

Reward: 30 Hunting Skill Points & 30 Fighting Skill Points
