What we make of it

it was autumn. at last. Morgan felt much more comfortable in this weather, especially with the heat having died down. but the south was still warmer than the north. at least she didn't have to worry about overheating with her coat the way it was. the piebald woman made her way into the orchard, marveling at the vacant branches and the remaining fruits that clung so desperately to them. the fruit that had departed lay around the base of the trees, flies buzzing quietly to them. she didn't even want to sniff at them; she knew they were past their prime.
ahead of her, she could see a shape moving along. at first glance, it was like a shadow and she had to adjust her eyes by blinking. no; it was a wolf. Morgan seemed to be going in the same direction as the other too, and she tried to veer away. but she was too close to them by now and she'd halt to allow him to pass her by. he may have seen her as well. conscious of it being the first wolf she had met since the season's change, her head gave a sharp dip of greeting to the man. she noted his long front canines with some envy. heck, it'd be so cool to have something like that.
but Morgan didn't seem to register he was deep in thought. she said nothing to him, however, and only awaited his passing or acknowledgment before moving on herself.
