now that she had Tornadic's permission, Heloise reached for the spar again and pulled it close to her. studying the shape, she guessed it'd be one clean snap. if it broke... she didn't want to see the disappointed face of the boy, mortified that she broke his weapon. looking around, the ivory woman saw the ship's side. metal. good. picking the antler up, she'd approach and balance it on the ship's outer rim with the jagged prong outward that she was going to snap. "use your environment to your advantage as well" she'd tell the boy as she rose up on her front legs. "and you can do wonderful things."

with a grunt, she plunged downward. her paws used the sharpness of the ship's rim like a blade to cut. a loud snap! was heard as the unwanted prong flew to the earth below. the singular antler slid down the side of the ship to Heloise's paws. picking it up, she'd turn and drop it at Tornadic's paws. "there you are" she'd smile softly at the boy before a thoughtful look crossed her face "you know... some warriors and hunters name their weapons. would you like to give the spear a name?" maybe something akin to Deerstalker. at least that's what she would call it if it was her own.

naming something made it your own. it put a bit of your spirit into the object.
