Malleus sat between his fishing lines, his contemplative gaze directed out over the water. His mood was unchanged from the last time he'd gone fishing. There was a lot for him to think about and sort through, and self evaluating oneself was a difficult thing. He was too close to the problem and couldn't see the forest for the trees. He had a good family and great kids, but without Serene to vent to and relax with Malleus found himself unable to unwind well. Though he was independent and fully capable of surviving on his own, things had changed after getting to know Serene. He felt like one half of whatever they were and without her there being only one half of something left him feeling incomplete. He craved companionship and he missed bitterly what he'd had with her. |
