He heard her words, and saw it for a double edged sword. He was damned if he did, and damned if he didn’t. He looked at the Doctor carefully, keeping his eyes blank and face expressionless. To give himself time, he responded first to her assessment of his wound. “I will exercise as you see fit, Lady Lucretia” he agreed, before turning to the harder point of her words.
“You are wise, Your Grace,” he said carefully, struggling to find a way out of this situation. He knew she would not release him back to his duties unless he agreed to do as she asked - but spying on the Empress herself? It was a bullsy request. “The health of the Empress is of utmost importance, I will endeavour to help you ensure her health and safety” it was not an exact promise, but he knew he would not be able to escape her request. If he reported lies, she would likely catch them. He had to decide if in doing was was helping or harming his Empress, for there would lie his answer.
