Perhaps the Doctor had caught some of his hesitation in his words, or noted how carefully his phrasing was. Perhaps it was simply because she understood what this request would do to him, but she promised that she meant only the best for Deathbelle.
“I will do as you ask, Lady Lucretia” he agreed at last, he hated going back on his word, and hoped this did not force him to. He would aid the doctor in caring for Deathbelle, and he would see it only as that. He would not let his mind delve into thoughts like ‘spying’ for that might just weaken his resolve.
He sat before the doctor and watched her eyes as she slid to the left, as through she was weary about meeting his gaze. Did she expect to find anger in there? Well his temper could be legendary, he had never unleashed it on a Klein before, and none of them had ever had cause to fear him. He sat quietly after that and waited to see if she dismissed him, knowing he would be seeing her in a few days, and dreading how that would go. He would have to keep a careful eye on Deathbelle to assess what she ate or did, but that was no hardship, most of his life was spent close to her.
