Zee responded with surprise at his instruction, through not anger, they had dealt with that at least, and he couldn’t help the cheeky grin he gave her over his mouthful of coat. For the moment, he was walking on air, and couldn’t wait to share his news with her. But first, he needed to get her out of here, and put her exactly where he could keep a watchful, secure eye over her. No one was ever going to hurt her again, and he had the rank to make it so. Well.. there was still one other person who could, but if Hannibal even tried they were going to have a problem.
A protective growl slipped past him, before he shook the thought free and nudged Zee again. ’ Urmfh” he said past the coat in his mouth, and gestured towards the exit of the den, ushering her outside it. He wasn’t about to take no for an answer. Once outside, he took a steady trot through the ravine, through the walk to his den wasn’t a very long one. He had been steadily working on his den the last few days, and it was already greatly bigger, with an elevated space tucked into the wall on one side, perfect in size for a wolf like Zee. he had actually been building it in preparation for the next storm, but now it would serve even better. He chucked the coat into this alcove, and turned to Zee with a grin.
“Do you remember once how you told me I wasn't entirely truthful about my rank? Well i’ve been told in no uncertain terms exactly what my place is in the Ashen Empire. I have a right to protect you, both through my rank, and Deathbelle’s wishes to keep you safe. She’s quite fond of you, you know.” they had both befriended this small blue wolf, and loved her dearly. Somehow she had just the right qualities to fight perfectly in the hearts of both of them. “It’s still a bit cosy at the moment, but in a few days it’ll be big enough for the three of us” he promised her. This was probably the point where she realised where he was going with this and put on the air brakes to his happy parade.
