BENEATH THE STAINS OF TIME

a darkly scowl cast over jaeger's mug as he snorted in mock disgust. "never mind the pleasantries, you've been misformed! you see; s?l does not chase after m?ni, nor the opposite." a slight annoyance touched his words. what had this man been taught as a child, if not the achievements of their gods? "i suppose i could give you a quick run through..." he did not wait for a response before he stood, his aura turning from relaxation to an unnerved excitement. he circled on his toes, a light bounce in his step, before he continued on. "there once was a man named mundilfari, an old man rottened by vanity who'd married a young woman. she bore him two children, who he thought were so bright and handsome that nothing in creation could compare except the sun and moon." he glanced skeptically up at the sky for a brief moment. "so he proudly named the boy m?ni and the girl s?l. but the gods, as they should have, took offense to the man's vainglory." his maw cracked into a wide grin of self-satisfaction, his crown dipping down close to the man's ear to whisper. "so you know what they did?"
disclaimer: i am in no way a professional teacher of the nordic legends. the story jaeger is about to tell is a tweaked version of the stories found online, and i cannot insure that what i'd found is part of the real legends.
