The rat returned to his back and tittered excitedly, red and blue beady eyes resting on her and getting the sum of her swirled markings.

“Do you have a family little dove?” he purred. “Perhaps you would prefer to share mine.” He flashed her a wide grin his eyes hooded as he dropped his catch at his paws the dead fish turning belly up as it floated dead in the water.
