Where could she be? the earthy hued brute thought as he padded down the shore of the huge river that cut through the land. He had been searching high and low for his sister. He thought he had caught her scent once, but quickly lost the trail. He was losing hope, starting to think that he would ever set his seafoam gaze on his smaller sibling again. He sighed and looked out over the moving water, slowly moving along its shore. The sun was high above him, making the liquid sparkle in the light. He paused, turning to face the river. He peered down, seeing his wavering appearance looking back up at him. His fur was simple, a solid, deep brown covering his entire body with few variations in hue. His eyes were a bright, pale sea green, a match to his sister's. The brute slowly lowered to his haunches, sitting resolutely on the bank of the wide river. His ears laid back against his skull and a soft whine echoed in his chest. What could he do now? His goal had been to reunite with his sister after they had been separated in that awful winter storm, but that was rapidly seeming out of reach. He supposed maybe he could join a pack, build a new life for himself... but the weight of his failure to protect his family crushed him. They were all he cared about and now they were gone. His eyes slid closed and his head dipped dejectedly toward the water, his bushy tail curling over his paws. The heavy burden of his loss pressed on his shoulders, making it hard for him to breathe. He took a shuddering breath, blocking out the world around him. What could he do when all was lost? Thought Speech Others |
