CROSS MY HEART AND HOPE TO FLY
~*~
(continuity note: Maija's post said that she walked -away- from Awaken and Dragomir, and Cross's post said that he followed her. in other words, they weren't with the rest of the group)
A return of his silent look and raised fur, was all that Cross was to receive, before the pale woman turned away and once more slipped into the island's undergrowth. It was all he needed, though. The boy was let to know that the she-wolf was ready to defend herself, but wanted nothing to do with him and only wished to be on her way. Fair enough. Nothing else had to be said on the matter. Cross wanted her go, the fur along his back smoothing down to normal. Though his eyes remained bright and sharp as crystal, all traces of a snarl faded from his face. He was of the same mind as the she-wolf, and he turned a different direction than she had taken - meaning to follow Awaken's scent and catch up with the other male. He had barely taken a step when he heard the strange howl. At first he wasn't even certain it was lupine!
His pace increased to a trot - and he reached the little island gathering just as the the strange male finished speaking. It looked like Awaken had walked right into a hornet's nest - there was a muscled grey woman, and another rather fierce-eyed male. If it weren't for the howling stranger's words - or rather demand for calm, Cross might've had to start getting ready for a fight. Truth be told, the boy was in no condition to do anything but talk, but he didn't think about that, he just came to stand beside and behind, Awaken, silently awaiting orders. He wasn't sure about this island. It was beautiful and plentiful, that was certain, but how could it be that so many wolves had swum over. Was there an easier way across? He'd have to search for it later.
