“If I hadn’t been there your reckless dive would have gotten you killed” he said patiently, still remembering how he had felt, seeing her dive headfirst into something so much bigger and more powerful than she was.
If he knew her thoughts on the bear, he might have been tempted to swat her, instead, he waited patiently as he intended to both teach her and help her take down the smaller cat. He crouched and leaned forward so he could better watch as Zee moved forward quietly. She could be a lethal little hunter, if she had the patience for surprise attacks.
Zee hesitated near the end, ruining much of her surprise, as the cat whirled on her. He watched a moment longer, before approaching from the other side, jumping in front of the cat and letting loose an air-splitting bellow. That got its attention. It made a timid strike for him, but he held his ground, showing his teeth as he waited for Zee to make use of his distraction. “Maim a leg!’ he yelled, wanting her to get a feel for how the leg worked on the cat and the best places to maim one. It was her best chance at winning against a larger cat.
