Samara was aware of the loss Rhyme had gone through lately, though she'd done her best not to pester him. Which was frustrating in more than a few ways for the woman, she'd been feeling more than lately that she'd maybe been taking some steps back. He'd seemed distant the last few times they'd interacted pushing back on her flirting, so she'd withdrawn from him a bit as of late. More than that she wanted to comfort him, wanted to be someone he could confide in, though she wasn't ready to admit it, she was hurt he was pulling away from her.
Still she'd do her best to put on a good face, she was good at that, at hiding her true feelings. Though it had never been quite so hard before, she'd never been emotionally invested in anyone other than her family before... She approached the meeting, giving Shaye a respectful but impersonal nod, and she tried to do the same for Rhyme though her heart tightened and for a moment she wasn't certain she'd kept some of that pain from her face. Then her gaze shifted to Theory, a genuine smile gracing her features as she saw the young girl sitting with her father. Well there was something happy at least, Samara liked the girl and as she passed she gave the girl a wink before going to seat herself, alone.
