a flash of red in the dark sprayed the walls around them. it was a grisly affair, but she believed that if they did not defeat the leopard it would just cause problems later on. the she-cat hadn't tried to run until it was too late, and there was no telling what would have happened if she hadn't joined in. the boy may have been fine, but there was always the option he would not be. she slid from the cat's back as it gurgled for breath, neck clamped by the large boy. she tried to hold it best she could until its last desperate gasp filled the cave.

then it was done.

she panted, though not as heavily as she did a season ago. accustomed to fighting now, a snow leopard was nothing compared to the fierce polar bears she had battled. the boy's voice caused her to raise her head from the corpse. "are you alright?" she asked instead, leaving out the fact she would have done it for nearly anyone possible. he seemed injured and she had limited knowledge of herbs. especially ones that grew in caves. the leopard had beaten him a bit badly. there was blood from his wounds. she sat, indicating that he should too. at least to catch his breath.

"do you require a healer?" her concern voiced, eyes dark with worry, as she looked him up and down.
