Lumi carefully placed all four paws apart from each other, trying to strike a powerful stance and copying her mother's form. It was more difficult than it looked! Although she didn't wobble, she certainly didn't feel very stable. "Hmm..." she thought aloud, trying different paw positions. They all felt about the same. Maybe when she was bigger it would feel a bit more in control. Her siblings seemed much more sure of themselves. Part of balancing probably had to do with being sure of yourself. Lumi looked away, a bit embarrassed. She wanted very badly to impress her mother; the pup couldn't help but feel that she was coming up short.

"Is this okay?" she asked, looking up hopefully at her mother. Heloise always seemed to know what she was doing: her actions were purposeful and regal. "I don't really know where they'd try to attack... I just kinda, uh, stay out of their way," she said softly. Lumi wasn't one to start fights.
