And So My Wings Were Clipped
Death Thread/Phyrric
They had already moved elsewhere, away from the castle and the garden that she had grown familiar with. The old goddess had been growing accustomed to the place, considering her ailments had begun to affect her sight and she was now nearly sightless. Her eyes were mostly clouded over, though she could still see shadows and silhouettes. Was this the beginning of the end for the Abraxas? Had it begun with Malleus? He had been taken so cruelly and too soon from them...they had lost others, too. Though from what circumstances she was unsure of. She wasn't a prophet or a seer or anything like that. She wasn't as in tune with the Fallen God as a couple of the others were. She didn't have many dreams where he spoke to her...one thing she knew, is that he just kept taking. After giving her Zagan and Iroh, things kept getting plucked away from her. First her brother...bits of her family...her health, and now her sight. Her strength was waning, she could feel it. Though she dared not tell her boys. As much as she tried to be a good mother to them, she was too sick and weak way too often to be able to spend any amount of quality time with them. She wanted to take them out into the world and teach them everything she knew...but she could barely make it out to drink water let alone leave her den.
And yet...here she was. The aging she-wolf had used every bit of her strength to reach the castle until she found a sunny spot against the castle wall. Through her paws, she could feel the beginnings of a slight tremor. The smell of ash and smoke carried by the winds washed over her as it mixed with the earthy smell of the castle and the moss that clung to its walls. She didn't know if she was going to die here on the spot...or maybe she was just wanting to get away from the others for a time so they wouldn't see her so weak. All her life she had been a cunning fox, but this time...it seemed she wouldn't be able to outsmart the aging process. She knew it was natural, and with all the teachings of the Fallen God, even he couldn't stop them from dying. It was said when they passed, they would join him...and yet...at this moment, she didn't feel so sure about that.
