He winced as Deathbelle settled on the word ‘conquest’ and wondered what thoughts moved through her mind. She had given up Sirius when she gave him permission to seek Zee’s paw in marriage, but did she think him fickle now, that he would play with the gift Deathbelle had given him? “A platonic conquest” he assured her drly, and Io was quick to expand on that. He wasn’t sure her expansion really clarified things, however. “As a pack recruit.” Io didn’t know his history with Deathbelle, he knew she didn’t seek to hurt the heartbroken Empress.
The subject turning to healing, and here Sirius only knew the basic, enough to plug a hole and keep himself alive until he could seek the assistance of a healer. Deathbelle seemed to agree that a healer was necessary around him. “Learning and pain go hand in hand” the warrior said with a shrug. He shifted a little, somewhat uncomfortable by Io’s public declaration of caring for him - wasn’t that his job? She was his to protect. They all were. The wolves of his pack would be his warriors, his family, and he would promise them all his protection. Of course, Io was special, for more than just her place in his pack.
And Deathbelle… well… with the Empress, there was more history and commitment then he could sum in a single thought.
